Adding address validation to your Shopify checkout isn’t just a “nice-to-have” - it can save you money, improve customer satisfaction, and prevent logistical headaches. Swiftcomplete is an address validation tool, designed to lookup & validate postal addresses instantly.

Here’s why Shopify Plus merchants are adding address validation from Swiftcomplete to their checkout page.

1. Address accuracy that Google Autocomplete can’t match

Swiftcomplete has access to the highest quality and latest data available, with new addresses added daily. Swiftcomplete includes multi-residence, Not Yet Built, and what3words addresses as standard – without the need to buy add-ons.

Whilst Shopify includes Google Autocomplete for merchants, the problem is, Google helps fill in addresses, but it does NOT verify if they’re deliverable. That means:

  • Missing address information
  • Incorrect postcodes
  • Entire addresses not appearing – especially Not Yet Built addresses
  • No verification that an address is actually deliverable

Here’s some real life examples whereby Google Autocomplete does not return an accurate, deliverable address. In these examples, Swiftcomplete would complete the full address – try it for yourselves on our demo .

a) Address information is missing in Google Autocomplete:

As an example, when you type in the what3words office address at Alfred Road into Google Autocomplete, part of the postcode is missing. Google also doesn’t prompt you to select the street number from the autosuggest, leaving that critical information missing. With information missing, this leaves you with undeliverable addresses.

b) New build addresses doesn’t show up in Google Autocomplete:

As an example, when you type this postcode ‘AB101DJ’ of a new build into Google Autocomplete, the address doesn’t show up as Google doesn’t have access to Not Yet Built addresses. This leaves the customer to manually type their whole address. The full address in this instance is 70 characters long: Flat 2, City Point, Thistle Street, Aberdeen, United Kingdom, AB10 1DJ.

c) Incorrect address data appears in Google Autocomplete:

Occasionally, when you type an address into Google Autocomplete and select the correct address from the dropdown, the wrong postcode autocompletes.

2. Reduce checkout churn: up to 90% faster address entry

Checkout abandonment is a silent profit killer. And while most merchants focus on payment gateways and shipping rates, address entry is often the hidden speed bump that drives customers away.

With Swiftcomplete, your customers can find and validate their delivery address instantly – in fact, up to 90% faster than typing it manually. Less friction means more completed checkouts, fewer typos, and far fewer failed deliveries.

3. Make hard-to-find deliveries easy with what3words

Some addresses just aren’t good enough to get your drivers to the right door. That’s why Swiftcomplete includes what3words as standard. Your customers can give you a precise 3-metre square location, so delivery drivers can deliver to the correct location first time, even to tricky or remote addresses.

4. Save money and protect your brand from failed deliveries

Failed deliveries aren’t just frustrating, they’re expensive. Every invalid or incomplete address can mean wasted delivery fees, extra admin, re-shipping costs, and WISMO (“Where Is My Order?”) customer service headaches.

By collecting accurate address data at checkout, Swiftcomplete helps you cut these costs, protect your profit margins, and keep customers happy.

5. A simple & intuitive user interface

Swiftcomplete has a simple and intuitive user interface that fits seamlessly into your existing field structure, with no unnecessary information. Our UX has been designed to ensure users:

  • Don’t worry about typos.
    • Intelligent fuzzy matching automatically catches misspellings and errors, finding the right address even for users in a hurry.

  • Seamless postcode handling.
    • Once a postcode is selected, it’s neatly moved to the header and removed from further suggestions – no unnecessary repetition or visual noise.

Overall, Swiftcomplete is designed to provide you with valid addresses instantly, to ensure your customers complete their order at checkout and their parcel arrives in the correct place.
